Peeled and deveined shrimp, ready to cook
PD stands for peeled and deveined: the vannamei shrimp is beheaded, fully peeled including the last segment and tail, and the dorsal vein, the intestinal tract, is removed. The result is clean meat that can go straight into the pan, the production line or the recipe.
Compared with peeled undeveined shrimp (PUD), deveining improves presentation and removes the possible dark, gritty line along the back, which is especially valued in foodservice and in medium and large sizes.
Sizes 26/30 to 71/90 and yield
Peeled shrimp are usually graded in pieces per pound. A 26/30 is a large piece that stands out in stir-fries, skewers or tempura; a 71/90 is a small shrimp suited to fillings, salads, croquettes, pizzas or rice dishes spread across many portions.
With PD you pay only for usable meat: there is no head or shell to remove, which simplifies costing and saves kitchen time. If your recipe needs the tail fan for presentation, the right format is peeled and deveined tail-on shrimp (PDTO).
IQF or block, to your specification
Peeled shrimp are mostly handled individually quick frozen (IQF), so you use exactly the amount needed, although block frozen is also available for industrial processing. Glazing and pack type vary with the destination market.
We set these parameters according to your specification. Contact us through the contact form or the enquiry button on this page with size, use and packing, and we will send a proposal.

Frequently asked questions
What does PD shrimp mean?
PD means peeled and deveined: shrimp with no head, no shell and the dorsal intestinal vein removed. It is used directly, with no waste or prep work.
How is PD different from PUD?
PUD is peeled but keeps the dorsal vein. PD has it removed, which improves presentation and avoids any gritty line, particularly in medium and large sizes.
Are peeled shrimp sizes per pound?
Usually yes: 26/30 means 26 to 30 pieces per pound. Some markets use kilos, so please confirm the unit in the order specification.
How should peeled shrimp be thawed?
In a chiller or refrigerator at 0 to 4 °C, or under cold water in a sealed bag if time is short. For stir-fries it can be cooked straight from frozen. Do not refreeze once thawed.
Can you supply IQF?
Peeled shrimp are traded both IQF and block frozen. Freezing method, glazing and packing are defined according to each customer specification.
