About albacore tuna
Albacore is the tuna with the lightest meat: once cooked it is almost white, with a fine texture and a delicate flavour. It is recognised by its very long pectoral fins, which reach beyond the start of the second dorsal fin. It lives in temperate waters in all oceans and in the Mediterranean.
In Spain it is a traditional product known as «bonito del norte»: in the Bay of Biscay it is fished in summer and is the raw material for the canned product sold under that name. It should not be confused with skipjack, a different species with darker meat.
Frozen albacore all year round
The albacore season is short. Whole frozen albacore allows canneries, processors and distributors to work with this species out of season and plan production steadily. We offer it in 5 to 10 kg pieces, a practical size for cooking, cleaning or cutting into steaks.
The cold chain is controlled until delivery. If your production needs a larger tuna or different fat content, see our whole yellowfin tuna; for canned light tuna, our frozen whole skipjack.

Yes. Albacore (Thunnus alalunga) is a tuna species, known in Spain as bonito del norte. It stands out for its almost white meat and fine texture, compared with the darker meat of yellowfin, bigeye or skipjack.
What is the difference between albacore and skipjack?
They are different species. Albacore has white meat and a delicate flavour; skipjack (Katsuwonus pelamis) has redder meat and is the basis of canned light tuna.
Can I buy albacore out of season?
